-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've been trying to find how to use the Rescue System to restore the MBR after I reload a Win2K Partition without success. I'm sure it can't be too difficult, but I've searched the help system, the SuSE web site to no avail. Can someone point me in the right direction for this? All help greatly appreciated. - ---Michael -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/kc3/jeziQOokQnARAooTAJ0cUn/1TgleYQUIUTwEqQ/AGdCK2wCeOUza hk/SZ4kEJPH4wkDvqezdprg= =d90R -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Just boot from the installation CD (i.e. CD1 or DVD1). Choose Boot installed system, and I believe it give you the choice of both SuSE and Win2K, choose SuSE. When it boots, run Yast, System, Boot Loader Configuration. check all the settings, especially the MBR choices, then save and finish. Should be done. Reboot to verify all is well (from the HD, not CD). -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. - ---Michael I am afraid that all is lost as you have lost the MBR. You are doomed to a life of Windows :)
I know that for me, using Win95, Mandrake and LiLo, I booted from my Mandrake floppy bootdisk, logged on as root, and ran the '/sbin/lilo'. This restored my MBR and my ability to boot into linux if I wanted to. YMMV depending on the bootloader you use. -- ======================================================================== Hylton Conacher - Licenced Windows user Registered Linux user # 229959 Using Linux Mandrake 9.0 with KDE 3 on a 2.4.19-16mdk kernel Soon to be v9 Susian ========================================================================
