Hello, I am having one rough time with 7.2. Going without extra ext2 /boot partition is problematic and buggy. I still get kernel panics even though building mk_initrd correctly. I use 2.4 kernel and access to the ftp server is problematic as well. Not sure where to find susefirewall2. Once again I wish suse would commit to 2.4 and toss 2.2 so people can focus on one set of problems arising from one kernel.
Ok so I put a 17 gig drive into machine. Did mke2fs the whole drive and copied suse ftp onto it via local mount (mount -t ext2 /dev/hdd /usr/local/ftp/pub). I swap it into other machine and try to install suse onto 4 gig drive via hard disk option. It recognizes the drive when I specify it /dev/hdb but once I tell it /suse/i386/7.2/(suse/) it cannot find image. The same happens when I use reiserfs on the 17 gig drive.
Furthermore kernel 2.4 comes with a network card modules called winbond-840 but this module was never added to the yast1 program. I wonder what other drivers are missing in yast1 option screens. I always have to hand edit the file for this net card. I lately also have trouble to get the 'modules' disk to recognize my linksys lne100tx cards (tulip) I been using for 3 years. The tulip drivers won't load for 7.2 modules and just errors forcing me to swap net cards. After the install the card works fine with the kernel tulip driver. Loaded suse KDE 2.2.0 rpms and started KDE and it gives error in the background 'libsoundserver not found'. Not sure what I am missing.... Upon each boot I get error: libexpat.so.1 is not a symbolic link. Quite annoying. thx mk _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

to do an installation from hard disk, after you copy the files to /usr/local/ftp/pub do: cd /usr/local/ftp/pub/suse/suse gzip -dc < images/root > setup/inst-img
