Actually, I'm getting close for 5.3 to work. ;) I upgraded glib and gtk+, next is Gnome. Basically, my system is so modified by source files that a .rpm file won't count. Matter of fact, most of SuSE's .rpm files won't work anyway..., (take wvdial for example, which is compiled with 2.8? of ?..., sorry, but it's been a long night.) (insert NEW .rpm's here btw.) Personally, what I would like SuSE to do is produce a .RPM update of compiler updates then have a tree for programs related to those specific upgrades. As a example, Gnome 1.0 requires 1.20 of glib and gtk+ 1.20. KDE is another fine example, or upgrading to the 2.2 kernel. (ala, even after reading the upgrade notes for the 2.2 kernel some files / links have been moved or linked into another package. Issue's like this will either break or make a distrib. Personally, I don't mind hunting for all of this, but other's will. Just my 2 cents. Actually, I would second this motion...but would prefer packages be in the old tar.gz or .tgz extensions....some of us have no choice but to download through Windows (winmodems and such) and then have to load the stuff from the windows partition ...windows does rude things to .rpm files...IT TRIES TO PLAY THEM...:-) my.02 -- islandwolf "live from the den of ubiquity" - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

You can always download using SHIFT+left mouse button. This way saving to disk is enforced. -- Michael Hasenstein <A HREF="http://www.csn.tu-chemnitz.de/~mha/</A">http://www.csn.tu-chemnitz.de/~mha/</A> Private Pilot (ASEL) since 1998 - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

Fascinating! Is there a treasure trove of documentation where tricks like that and keyboard shortcuts are described? I've been trying to find out how to perform functions with the keyboard only. I'm not handicapped or anything like that, but I find that switching my hands between keyboard and mouse is pretty stressful, and I don't want to be afflicted with carpal tunnel syndrome. You can't use Netscape with the keyboard alone. That 'trick' is documented, see the HELP-button of your Netscape browser. Here's another one: shortcut for cut&paste of URLs into the location bar - simply paste into the browser window, anywhere, and the URL (if there's a valid URL in th clipboard) will be loaded -- Michael Hasenstein <A HREF="http://www.csn.tu-chemnitz.de/~mha/</A">http://www.csn.tu-chemnitz.de/~mha/</A> Private Pilot (ASEL) since 1998 - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
