Since everybody is pretty busy getting everything done for 5.3, just a quick note: SuSE 5.3 will ship with gcc. I am not 100ure about 6.0, but I would say, it'll be egcs. Can one compile glibc stuff with gcc, anyway? LenZ ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lenz Grimmer S.u.S.E. You can compile glibc stuff with gcc. I've done it. -M One is most dishonest towards one's God; he is not _permitted_ to sin. mail: mjohnson@pop3.aebc.com - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

GCC works with glibc. It wouldn't make since for the official GNU C compiler not to work with the official GNU C library. Tim Sedlmeyer - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
Try compiling gnome with gcc-2.7.2.x, good luck. Actually, since gcc-2.8.x is somewhat broken, most of the people I know use egcs or pgcc; Redhat now ships with egcs, Stampede ships with pgcc. If you are unsure exactly what egcs is, go here: <A HREF="http://egcs.cygnus.com</A">http://egcs.cygnus.com</A> Tim Sedlmeyer wrote:
