[opensuse] Wicd bug on 10.0.0.0/8 networks?
I've noticed a problem with connecting with wicd to Class A private networks (10.0.0.0/8) on a couple of occasions. the command line tools (e.g. ifup-dhcp) work fine. Anyone else seen this? Or on Class B private networks. No problem with class C (192.168.X.0/24). Jeffrey sometimes wicd takes a bit longer to connect, but, it has always performed much much better than networkmanager from me (dell vostro 1710, suse 11.1 x86-64, kde-3). There has been one occasion in about a year and a half where i first booted my terribly shrunk windoze partition, made the wifi connection immediately, then a reboot back into Suse also resulted in an immediate connection, whereas that was impossible before the doze boot. That was about a 45 minute long experiment, where all combinations of shtuff were tried, including 3 repeated reboots from suse and extended use of command line with various combinations of rcnetwork restart, ifup-dhcp, ifup wlan0 etc, as well as reloading the bcm-43 firmaware and trying network manager and wicd. It seems that the linucs side wifi software still has some basic issues with hardware / firmware handshake, which become real problems once in a long while. so in general i am satisfied with command line and wicd and dissatisfied with network manager. recently i heard about wifi radar, anyone using that? d.
