[opensuse] Epson Perfection 1260 Photo scanner not working with 42.2
I have an Epson scanner which worked until I upgraded to openSUSE 42.2, from 13.1. It no longer works. When I try to configure it in Yast Hardware, I see an Epson Scanner that's not configured and plustek, but it says "No scanner recognized by this driver". Suggestions? tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have an Epson Perfection 1650. It has always worked out of the box with OSS software from the distribution. Never used proprietary software with it. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)

Hello: Some Epson requires proprietary drivers on top of sane background, some doesn't. According to sane site, the Epson Perfection 1260 Photo scanner is supported by the plustek driver, and it should work without proprietary driver. See: http://sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html search for "Perfection 1260". Imagescan/iscan is a scanner program for the scanner, but the scanner should work with other applications as scanimage, kooka, or xsane too. I would plug out / plugin the scanner USB and check dmesg output if the scanner is recognized at all by the system. You can find driver info for different Epson scanners here: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/ Istvan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
