Hey is there any reason I wouldn't be able to install two versions of the java sdk? I have java2 installed and when I went to install Staroffice it wouldn't recognize that version. The SuSE manual and yast both say that java 1.1.8 needs to be installed. Any ideas? Crazy D __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! An additional annoyance. I need to run Sun's version of java (1.2.x) for a program I have written. Blackdown's java 1.1.8 does not support all the methods of 1.2.x. I thus have chosen not to have 1.1.8 installed. However, I do have StarOffice installed. Every time I add something new or upgrade, Yast sticks 1.1.8 back in. John.

The script /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.alljava appears to be broken, it's what keeps recreating the "java" link to jdk1.1.8 in /usr/lib every time you run SuSEconfig. -- ____________________________________________________________ Glenn Holmer gholmer@weycogroup.com Programmer/Analyst phone: 414.908.1809 Weyco Group, Inc. fax: 414.908.1601

Yes, it is broken. It does not recognize IBM java due to error in parsing package name. -Kastus

You can run 2 versions without problem but you may not need to do so. If you have 1.22 installed all you need do is comment out the 1.22 entry from the Exclude line of the javarc file in your SO 5.2 directory. Charles Forever never goes beyond tomorrow.
