Hello everybody. This is my first time I post in this list. I have been using SuSE since many years. Now I am using v. 8.1. It worked fine until yesterday, when I resized (enlarging it) the reiser partition where SuSE is installed. All seemed OK. But when I start the system here what happens: system boots and the kernel is loaded. Then the services start. But when the process reaches "starting kdm service" the system crashes and reboots. (endless loop). Any hint? Bye emilio

You could select "init 3" on the option line at boot, login as root at the VT prompt and see if there is anything in /var/log/messages, /var/log/kdm.log or /var/log/XFree86.0.log that give any clues. If all fails, you could do an install from CD/DVD, taking care not to reformat any of your partitions, this has worked for me both as a repair action and for upgrading from 8.2 to 9.0. How did you resize the disk ? Can you boot from the rescue CD and run the reiserfsck ? What does reiserfsck tell you ? reiserfsck --check
