[opensuse] kde3 kickerrc - wrong date format for x86_64, bug or is format change OK?
Listmates, All menu entries and control panel modules have disappeared from the menu and control center, respectively. Comparing various files from my working i586 installs with the non-working x86_64 installs, I have uncovered this strange date format difference in kickerrc. In the i586 installs where the menus and kcmshell modules work, kickerrc uses the following menus date tag format: [menus] Extensions=katesessionmenu.desktop,printmenu.desktop,recentdocs.desktop,prefmenu.desktop Favorites=MozillaFirefox.desktop,kde-Kontact.desktop,writer.desktop,kde-amarok.desktop,kde-digikam.desktop,kde-Home.desktop,kde-KControl.desktop,kde-Help.desktop,kde-konsole.desktop MenuEntryFormat=NameAndDescription MenuEntryHeight=25 NumVisibleEntries=8 RecentAppsStat=124 1268889229 /opt/kde3/share/applications/kde/konsole.desktop,76 1264722004 /home/david/.local/share/applications/MozillaFirefox-2.desktop,66 1264713520 /home/david/.local/share/applications/fusion-icon.desktop,47 1267593139 /usr/share/applications/YaST.desktop,43 1248723005 /home/david/.local/share/applications/Mo <snip> On the x86_64 installs, the date tag format is different: [menus] Extensions=konquerormenu.desktop,printmenu.desktop,recentdocs.desktop,prefmenu.desktop Favorites=MozillaFirefox.desktop,kde-Kontact.desktop,writer.desktop,kde-amarok.desktop,kde-digikam.desktop,kde-Home.desktop,kde-KControl.desktop,kde-Help.desktop,kde-konsole.desktop FirstSeenApps=kde-kpl,-,kde-kbruch,-,kde-kturtle,-,kde-kig,-,kde-kpercentage,-,kde-kmplot,-,kde-kvoctrain,-,kde-kiten,-,kde-klatin,-,kde-kanagram,-,kde-kverbos,-,kde-khangman,-,kde-kwordquiz,-,kde-klettres,-,kde-kalzium,-,kde-blinken,-,kde-kgeography,-,kde-keducabuilder,-,kde-keduca,-,kde-ktouch,-,kde-kstars,-,kde-ksimus,-,kde4-icemon,-,kde-krpmbuilder,-,kde-kdesvn,-,kde-cervisia,-,kde-kompare,-,kde-kdiff3,-,linguist,-,kde-kbabeldict,-,kde- <big snip of no date tagged entries -- then> kde4-kig,2010-02-27,kde-LabPlot,2010-02-27,kde4-kmplot,2010-02-27,kde4-cantor,2010-02-27,kde4-kbruch,2010-02-27,euler,2010-02-27,kde4-kturtle,2010-02-27,kde4-kalgebra,2010-02-27,gnome-genius,2010-02-27,gmult,2010-02-27,xmgrace,2010-02-27,ignuit,2010-02-27,kde4-kanagram,2010-02-27,gspectrum-unstable,2010-02-27,chemtool,2010-02-27,garlic,2010-02-27,gchemcalc-unstable,2010-02-27,kde-krecipes,2010-02-27,gchempaint-unstable,2010-02-27,gcrystal-unstable,2010-02-27,gchemtable-unstable,2010-02-27,gchem3d-viewer-unstable,2010-02-27,kde4-kalzium,2010-02-27,kde4-step,2010-02-27,kde4- <big snip of 2010-02-27 dated entries -- then> MenuEntryFormat=NameAndDescription MenuEntryHeight=22 NumVisibleEntries=8 RecentAppsStat=41 1268747774 /opt/kde3/share/applications/kde/KControl.desktop,9 1269241390 /usr/share/applications/emerald-theme-manager.desktop,7 1261351579 /usr/share/applications/YaST.desktop,5 1264554123 /opt/kde3/share/applications/kde/konsole.desktop,5 1269236775 /usr/share/applications/xterm.desktop,4 1268883792 /usr/share/applications/ccsm.desktop,2 1265210299 /opt/kde3/share/applications/kde/KEdit.desktop,2 1267269671 /usr/share/a <snip> The entries with the 2010-02-27 tags do not look correct. Is there a way to force a rebuild of kickerrc? Coincidentally, 2010-02-27 sounds correct for the date the control panel modules and menus disappeared... What says the brain trust on this strangeness? Can kickerrc handle the mixing of date tag formats or is this possibly the reason everything disappeared? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
