By the way, Eric, did you try just renaming your xorg.conf and running without one at all? I did a fresh install and I have no xorg.conf at all.

Yes John I have tried that, but so far may say, that whatever method I tested, I had no luck.

What did you do to get nvidia installed ?.

Did you enter nomodeset starting up the system, and did you wrote blacklist nouveau at the end of /etc/modprobe.d/*50-blacklist.conf ?
