I dual boot between Win98 and SuSE 7.1. occasionally, (like 4-5 times per day) Windows will lock-up. upon reboot I might choose to boot to Linux instead. Is there a need to run ckfs in Linux before accessing the Windows partition? Also, if I do check the filesystem, do I still need to allow windows to finish it's scandisk the next time I boot to windows? now some follow-up questions: What are the differences between the two utilities? What are they actually checking for? How does the system detect that the drive has or hasn't been scanned? I assume there is some sort of flag set on a clean shutdown from the message "check forced" on a Linux boot. Can ckfs reset this flag on a windows disk when doing a scan? I look forward to all your experienced insight. ~Dale ________________________________ Dale Schuster MIS Manager Lake Tahoe Horizon Casino Resort dschuster@horizoncasino.com
