(1) I had been having trouble executing in X, the following line:
color_xterm -sb -sl 500 -j -ls -fn 7x14 -fb 7x14bold -title "Color
xterm" &
Yes it is a Slackware carryover.
Duh, finally realized that this line ( which was non-color in
Slackware)
xterm -sb -sl 500 -j -ls -fn 7x14 &
was giving me a color xterm in SuSE!
(2) As I would rather use rxvt then xterm, I loaded it from the CD.
when I try
rxvt -fn 10x20 -ls &
I get:
/dev/ttyp4: Operation not permitted
setterm: Could not find termcap entry for xterm-color.
setterm: Could not find termcap entry for xterm-color.
VTp4 wtopa-SuSE:~$
So SuSE is NOT using termcap for xterm color. Something different
is being used. OK, not knowing what, I tried
rxvt -fn 10x20 &
which does work for rxvt in Non-color mode.
So my questions are:
How do I get a Non-Color xterm, and a Color-rxvt to work?
BTW, I am writing this from the user with .inputrc in it. The
Backspace key does not work on the xterm command line but DOES work in
this Mutt (vim) mail. The Home & End keys, which work on the xterm
command line DO NOT work here in the Mutt (vim) program. Strange
combination of events, isn't it.
