the images *you* uploaded can be anywhere. How to find out:

- Right-click the desktop > Workspace settings - Hover over one of your imported wallpapers > Click the folder symbol Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/w1Nsn5n.png

I have no ~/.local/share/wallpapers/ I do have some imported wallpapers but per your instructions, they appear in the directory where they were imported, external to local system (nas). will test that creating ~/.local/share/wallpapers/ and populating provides images for screen background ... tks and it does.
