Jay, In my configuration mod_php4 shows up as one of the installed modules. And I believe the connection to your difficulty may be that the directive AddType application/x-httpd-php .php appears between the tags: <IfModule mod_php4.c> ... </IfModule> Thus if Apache does not find mod_php4 installed it will not invoke the directive AddType application/x-httpd-php .php and it will not know that files with the extension .php are to be parsed by php. I beleive there are other ways around this, which do not involve use of php as a module. But I really can only speak to what is working on my system. And my system has php4 installed as a module. Cheers! Mike On Wednesday 18 June 2003 09:42 pm, jay wrote:
Mike,
Should "mod_php" show up under Installed modules in Apache and not just [PHP4 module]
Installed modules: [ PHP4 module ] [ Apache perl module (mod_perl) ] [ Apache DAV module (mod_dav) is not installed ] [ Apache Python module (mod_python) ]

Micheal,
application/x-httpd-php phtml pht php in /etc/httpd/mime.types
and AddType application/x-httpd-php .php in /etc/httpd/httpd.conf?
Both lines are already present in both files.

After numerious tries I cannot get phpMyAdmin to work. I always get the following message:
"You have chosen to download a file of type: application/x-httpd-php from /srv/www/htdocs/phpMyadmin" and then asks me if I want to download the file "index.php" whenever I click on it.
I have the following installed: (all of which were installed, deleted an reinstalled via yast2)

Apache and mysql are runnung and I haven't added a password for root yet in mysql.

What am I doing wrong or what has to be changed?
