Is this before or after you do the 'insod lp'? When you want to load a module, it is usually better to use the modprobe command, rather than insmod, as this handles all the dependencies (other modules required for this one to work) for you.
insmod lp Using /lib/modules/2.2.5/misc/lp.o insmod: a module named lp already exists
Could you be any more specific as to why it isn't working? (Do you get any error messages?)
Doesn't generate any that I can find. I do have an lpq full of test documents. xlpq says: Status: waiting for lp to become ready (offline ?)
You could try sending the output of 'lpc status' to the list.
ascii: queuing is enabled printing is enabled no entries printer idle lp: queuing is enabled printing is enabled 11 entries in spool area waiting for lp to become ready (offline?) raw: queuing is enabled printing is enabled no entries printer idle You could also
try printing after typing the command 'lpc up all'.
no change

What printers are you using? Also, are you using the out-of-the- box kernel or one you compiled yourself? Finally, if you do "lsmod," do you see "parport" and "parport_pc" listed?
Hope that helps, Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\
