[opensuse] 10.1/sled10 repo for updating evolution?
Surely there is a repo, somewhere, that will allow me to update the EVO that comes with SLED 10/ opensuse 10.1? I'm no "install from source" guru, and don't frankly have the time or interest at this point ... but, I do want to update EVO to the 2.8x flavor (I'm hoping it is without some of the irritations of 2.6). I've googled and googled, but don't seem to find a repo that I can configure that will offer me what I want. Perhaps I just am no phrasing my query correctly. Can anyone point me to a url? Can anyone point me to a url?

Hi Peter, In the BuildService, Evolution is currently built up to 2.8.2 in the project GNOME:STABLE. you can find it at http://repos.opensuse.org/GNOME:/STABLE/ Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

thank you, Dominique and sorry for the off-list reply earlier. I've tried adding this url as an installation source in YAST, but it fails. I'm attemping to add it as a type: http with the server name: repos.opensuse.org and the path as: /GNOME/STABLE/ but I get the error "unable to create installation source from URL http://repos.opensuse.org/GNOME:/STABLE/" Should this be added as a different type? Is authentication required? Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Don't worry for that.

Several things: The path contains a colon (:) after GNOME and you will have to include the SUSE Version -> http://repos.opensuse.org/GNOME:/STABLE/SUSE_Linux_10.1/ As I can see, there is no repo for SLED, but as it's based on 10.1, this should not be a problem. By adding this repo, your update tool (zen-updater or whatever) will also suggest to update many other things to latest gnome. You might want to be selective with this or test on a non critical workstation. that did it, thank you again

I wonder then, as "best practice" ... would it be wise to simply download and install the rpms from this site directly? If I add this site, but then after installing evo updates, set the status to "disable" ... will that prevent the zen updater (I believe that is the default on SLED?) from referencing it for regular updates? I wish I wasn't such a yutz, but I'm just not sure what to do with what I am seeing, now. Tons of depenencies, of course. (see list below). Should I update each of the referenced applications/utilitities as a way of resolving the errors? My guess is that there is an updated version of gnomemeeting and gnome-panel-nld and gedit and etc ... that, if they were updated, would install the correct version of the various lib* files that seem to be required. Or, can some of these errors be "ignored, and how do I know which ones? #### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2007-01-16 10:30:20 #### Can't satisfy requirement libebook-1.2.so.5 for gnomemeeting-1.2.2-24.2.i586 Conflict Resolution: ( ) delete gnomemeeting ( ) Ignore this requirement just here ( ) Ignore this requirement generally Can't satisfy requirement libecal-1.2.so.3 for gnome-panel-nld-2.12.2-36.6.i586 Conflict Resolution: ( ) delete gnome-panel-nld ( ) Ignore this requirement just here ( ) Ignore this requirement generally Can't satisfy requirement libedata-cal-1.2.so.1 for multisync-evolution-0.82+cvs-25.2.i586 Conflict Resolution: ( ) delete multisync-evolution ( ) Ignore this requirement just here ( ) Ignore this requirement generally Can't satisfy requirement libgailutil.so.17 for gedit-2.12.1-28.10.i586 Conflict Resolution: ( ) delete gedit ( ) Ignore this requirement just here ( ) Ignore this requirement generally Can't satisfy requirement libgailutil.so.17 for gnome-applets-2.12.2-51.2.i586 Conflict Resolution: ( ) delete gnome-applets ( ) Ignore this requirement just here ( ) Ignore this requirement generally Can't satisfy requirement libgailutil.so.17 for nautilus-cd-burner-2.12.3-20.6.i586 Conflict Resolution: ( ) delete nautilus-cd-burner ( ) Ignore this requirement just here ( ) Ignore this requirement generally Can't satisfy requirement libxml2 == 2.6.23 for libxml2-python-2.6.23-15.2.i586 Conflict Resolution: ( ) delete libxml2-python ( ) Ignore this requirement just here ( ) Ignore this requirement generally #### YaST2 conflicts list END ### -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
