Ok, mySQL is not in my rc.config. How can I add it, what is the command syntax? Albert Wagner wrote:

I need the same, what does "yasted" mean?
Sorry, Fredrick. It's just a made up word. I mean that I started up yast2, and went to:
ControlCenter->Misc->RCConfigEditor->StartVariables->StartApplications
I'm new to SuSE too. Apparently most configuration is done in the yast2 app.

I uninstalled the MySQL rpms and installed the SuSE rpms, then yasted it to start=yes. Thanks to everyone who replied.

If you installed the rpms from the commandline, you might need to run SuSEconfig before the rc.config file knows about the new packages. On my box, START_MYSQL="yes" is the last of the START lines in rc.config. You do *not* have to run SuSEconfig after setting the START variable to "yes" (unless you change other stuff as well.) Just run: rcmysql start Regards Ole
