Hi, guys... I just installed SuSE 8.0 to Dell Inspiron 5000e (Notebook, 3com 574TX Ethernet card). The problem is that I can't use an internet even though the system seems to detect my pcmcia card. I could see this message, "Sep 16 19:32:37 linux dhcpcd[743]: timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response" Could you tell me what I have to do...? By the way, I'm using a Cable modem (DHCP) Thanks, Attatches, tail -50f /var/log/messages Sep 16 19:32:32 linux cardmgr[691]: could not adjust resource: IO ports 0x100-0x4ff: Device or resource busy Sep 16 19:32:32 linux cardmgr[691]: could not adjust resource: memory 0xc0000-0xfffff: Input/output error Sep 16 19:32:32 linux cardmgr[691]: could not adjust resource: memory 0x60000000-0x60ffffff: Input/output error Sep 16 19:32:32 linux cardmgr[691]: could not adjust resource: memory 0xa0000000-0xa0ffffff: Input/output error Sep 16 19:32:32 linux cardmgr[691]: could not adjust resource: IO ports 0xa00-0xaff: Device or resource busy ... -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Log shows the NIC module was loaded successfully. And no apparent errors with the DHCP client starting up. First, verify that you can ping the loopback address 127.0.0.1. If successful, try pinging the DHCP server. If not, then it is probably your cabling. Change it out..and try the DHCP server again. You could try making dhcpcd wait longer, but I would suggest uninstalling dhcpcd and using the ISC dhclient instead. It has worked well for me here (with cable internet), when dhcpcd wouldn't.
