What happens on the Wishlist?
It is all neat and nifty to put things on the wishlist, but what happens with that informasttion? It would be nice to have an idea wether or not things will be added or why they are rejected. -- houghi http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Making_a_DVD_from_CDs

I'll look at it after 10.0 is out and I have some free time for it. It's not forgotten, just that it came at a time where we could not make a change for 10.0 and therefore I postponed going through it until 10.1. I'll make my notes available in the wiki - I just do not know yet who to do it best. Btw. thanks for that wishlist, we really appreciate it, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

OK, so it will be for 10.1 I wil,l start adding extra stuff there, like checkinstall, wich I really like to use, gqview and glables as well. Also a lot of smaller things, like ccze I will add as well. -- houghi http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Making_a_DVD_from_CDs

By "adding", do you mean the wishlist, or do you mean RPMs ? Please, please, please when considering to add RPMs into 10.1, however that will work, please consider using /already existing/ RPMs like Packman's, mine, or from other suser-* They need to be reviewed by SUSE packagers but nevertheless. cheers - -- -o) Pascal Bleser http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/ /\\ <pascal.bleser@skynet.be> <guru@unixtech.be> _\_v ===> FOSDEM 2006 -- February 2006 in Brussels <=== -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFDIWisr3NMWliFcXcRAk7+AKCq67jUQJ49t1bUN1i7t5U88C+G0gCgrkpB a7ZkDGIE7Pxwi3qHLCj7hls= =8KNj -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I quoted on the part where the wishlist was mentioned. With `there` I was refering to the part I quoted to, the wishlist. So I was talking about adding stuff to the wishlist. The discusion on how 9and if) to add rpm's is not even done. -- houghi http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Making_a_DVD_from_CDs

In my opinion there is not much point in adding software that is already included. Robert -- Robert Schiele Tel.: +49-621-181-2214 Dipl.-Wirtsch.informatiker mailto:rschiele@uni-mannheim.de

I have RC1 installed and none of the above showed up on a search in Yast. I just checked again in ARCHIVES_10.0.gz with zgrep -i and found nothing. Please tell me where I make my mistake. -- houghi http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Making_a_DVD_from_CDs

You should always lookup the contents of the inst-source tree on the FTP the ISO images are only a subset of the full contents. Robert -- Robert Schiele Tel.: +49-621-181-2214 Dipl.-Wirtsch.informatiker mailto:rschiele@uni-mannheim.de

I already faced this problem (with sitecopy). The term "included" is _not_ well defined. for me and most users, included mean "included in the 5 cd's". One of the most important thing to do in opensuse (say, we can way the final release is out :-) is a list of _all_ the packages _tested_: * included in the cd's * included in the dvd's * included in the boxed version * included in the ftp only * rejected for an incompatibility with the actual distro * rejected for known probably fixable bug * testing : available only for beta testing, not supported * not yet tested, advices welcome * already noted on the wislist and all the abnormal situation should have a comment. We must also have a perfectly clear choosing process. Who is going to say yes or no? I don't mind what system will be choosen, but I want to know if I must support opensuse :-). I know, for sure, that opensuse is only few weeks old :-), and the major goal is to have a stable 10.0 on 4 weeks. jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr

Indeed, and I included Guru and packman. I had not yet added the FTP site as a source. <snip very good ideas> Would it be possible to add this information in Yast somehow, at least the files that ARE on the official mirrors, but not on the The main reason was that I installed from DVD and for me DVD means all software and 5 CD's mean not all software, so my own program confused me. :-) Yes, I think this should be handled in a better way. Also looking for the Java source after reading about it in the instalation is not very easy. Could it be possible that after the internet test (and/or internet update) during instalation, that mirror is added as a source? -- houghi http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Making_a_DVD_from_CDs

Please look around on the ftp server. Specificically look at http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-current/inst-source/INDE... ./CD1/suse/i586/checkinstall-1.6.0beta4-4.i586.rpm ./CD1/suse/i586/gqview-2.0.1-3.i586.rpm ./CD1/suse/i586/glabels-2.0.2-5.i586.rpm
Also a lot of smaller things, like ccze I will add as well.
That one is not yet in. Regards, Carl-Daniel

As alternative use 'apt-file' (included on the CDs) as that one covers also the suse-people, suse-project, suser-*, etc. Once that has been checked you are almost 100% sure, that the rpm is not available. In case you don't want to use apt-file, the manual alternative is: http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/home.html#contents -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
