I'm very very impressed by the speed of KDE 4.13 Not only is the startup part that steps though the icons on the splash screen about 4-5 times as fast as in .11, but so is that application start up. Previously the KDE components, dolphin and the terminal window, each with many tabs, came up PDQ, but the Mozilla components, Firefox and Thunderbird, might take as much as 8 or ten seconds. Now all of them come up almost instantly. While I only need to bring up KDE once or twice a week (this week has been exceptional, a few times every day as parts of .13 get released to the respositories) I get the similar snappy response in other areas, starting other applications from the CLI in the terminal window and via F2.
