I simply write the names to a file, one file per line. Then a while loop reads them, one by one:
while read FILES ; do WorkOn "$FILES" done < $LISTOFFILES
This works neither for files with spaces nor for files with newlines in them.
Then explain how is it that I'm using it and it works, without touching IFS.
You're right that it works with spaces; the only problem is when one has file names with newlines. Sigh, I shouldn't post comments at 02:59 in the night, but go to bed instead... ;-) Joachim -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Joachim Schrod Email: jschrod@acm.org Roedermark, Germany -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

:-) Yep, it would not work with new-lines in them. And perhaps neither with a '"', I haven't tried. I don't intend to create files with newlines in their names ;-) - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
