Hi all, I just got 2.4.10 compiled and noticed strange behavior when running Yast. I actually takes up all memory and halts system. Wonder if anyone experiences same problems? Cheers, Peter

No problem here, have 2.4.10, and top reports yast uses 0.3 mem.
Hi Folks, It seems that 2.4.10 has a problem with "cat /proc/partitions", which loops endlessly. This apparently breaks yast in some cases. I think I'll go back to 2.4.8 until 2.4.11 has been wrung out a bit. Regards, Lew Wolfgang On Fri, 28 Sep 2001, zentara wrote:

Hi Lewie, I am not doubting your experience for one moment, but as a matter of interest my vanilla 2.4.10 completes cat /proc/partitions without any problem, and YAST also continues to work perfectly. Hi Geoff, I haven't seen the problem myself, only relaying what was reported in the Linux Kernel mailing list. There is some indication that the problem is in the gcc compiler. 2.95.2 may be okay, 2.95.3 may be the source of the problem. Which compiler did you use? It was 2.95.2 - I guess that is probably the answer. Regards, Geoff _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com
