Users could, using a web form based upon various kernel revs, submit an order to the site, have a kernel compiled and either e-mailed or sitting in a 'pickup directory' once it's completed. The resulting kernel would be in a tar.gz file with a copy of the .config file you submitted.

I did see something similar already called doslinux. It is a mini-linux distribution with the 2.033 kernel, fits on 6 floppies, and runs on a dos partition under the UMSDOS file system. It has 2 kernels , eide and scsi; and it has all the modules available to download. You can get linux running with only about 15 megs of space.
