Alrighty, this seems somewhat unlikely, since I can ftp from other sites, but is it possible that my freesco firewall/router is blocking the connection? If so, any ideas on how to fix it and why it is a problem w/ just a relatively few sites? here is a snippet of the return from ncftp w/ the -D (debug) option on
ls
#DB# ls #DB# Data connection was already closed. #DB# RCmd: "PORT 10,0,0,4,4,175" 500: Illegal PORT Command #DB# Data connection was already closed. This seems a little more informative than what I was receiving before, which was just:
ls
Illegal PORT Command

Are you using yast, or a command line ftp? If command line, are you setting passive transfer mode? -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://online-isp.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

I have used ncftp the most in the past, and that was the first thing I tried after gftp barfed on the upgrades. I also tried wget, and yast ftp, and plain ftp. Like I said, I am most familiar w/ ncftp, and I did speed-browse the man page for info on passive mode, but didn't find anything. Guess I will go back and read slower;) Monte -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
