Below is a note from a Suse Mirror for 9.1 Is this telling me that 9.1 will be available in ftp mirrors within days? Before May 7th or soon after? Dave. And in another week it will still "in a few days". -- Ken Schneider unix user since 1989 linux user since 1994 SuSE user since 1998 (5.2)

I am rather new to SuSE, but as far as I know SuSE normally make the FTP version available a month after the boxed edition is released. -j -- Area51 - A techno-enthusiastic trip with a babylonic blog in Danish and English. http://a51.janus.dk/

The sources are already there, if you're prepared to do a little compiling

I barely trust myself with rpm ;-) I'm buying the product anyway, can't expect support if you don't contribute some cash :-) Dave.

Yeah, but it would be nice if the pre-ordered Boxed Sets arrived just a tad sooner than the free downloads, no? Still no sign of mine... :-( -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

Well that makes an interesting change, we usually have to wade through weeks of postings about the evil SuSE empire refusing to make an ftp release, together with some 'where are the isos?' whining. Some src.rpms isn't a release, I'm sure they'll be trying to get the sets out to people first ... and I suspect Anders may have been slightly tongue-in-cheek, a 'little compiling' might turn into days, I'd have thought.

You and the rest of the world, if I've not missed something.

That's bound to change. Now it's the evil Novell empire
together with some 'where are the isos?' whining.

I doubt it, unless you plan on compiling absolutely everything. I don't think it would take any longer than an average gentoo install, or around 5-8 hours or so. Depends on your hardware, naturally The trick is to compile things in the right order though

Up to now the release date is four weeks after availability in the US which would make it beginning of June for the FTP version. Philipp
