[SuSE Linux] ppp is SSllooooooww !
I've SuSE 5.3 installed on this box along with Solaris. Connecting to the net via Solaris and my 33.6k USR Sportster yields transfer rates on the order of 3.2kbs, but using SuSE I'm commonly limited to less than 1kbs. I've not done anything special, just brought the system up and configured a generic ppp via YaST. What am I missing here!?!?! Try irqtune. You may be getting a high interrupt lanency. irptune will give your modem a higher priority. <A HREF="http://www.best.com/~cae/irqtune/</A">http://www.best.com/~cae/irqtune/</A> from charlesiii <A HREF="http://theverge.com</A">http://theverge.com</A> On Thu, 10 Dec 1998, Lance Heller wrote:

Thanks!!! It was just what I needed. Incidentally, irqtune is available in rpm format from <A HREF="http://rufus.w3.org/linux/RPM/</A">http://rufus.w3.org/linux/RPM/</A>
