All, I have a Samsung ML-1210 printer connected to a samba/windows networked machine. I was able to print fine to it with SuSE 7.1 but having upgraded to 7.3 I can no longer get it to work. The drivers that came with the printer include a new version of ghostscript 5.5. The current version (6.51) has to be removed and the new Samsung provided one installed for the printer to work. I can forcefully do this and get the printer to work on the local LP0 port, but it doesn't work via the samba/windows machine (using CUPS). BTW I couldn't get it to work at all under 7.3 using LPD. Unfortunately hacking the ghostscript seems to cause other problems with yast2 being unhappy that there are several broken dependencies. Besides I really don't like "downgrading" :-)) So: - Has anyone managed to get this printer to work with 7.3? - Any idea why I can't get CUPS to print to a networked printer? (the user name and pasword seem to be correct in the printer.conf file.) - Since Samsung produces drivers for this printer, when might we see it supported out of the box by SuSE? TIA David.
