I got my copy of 9.2 today, but I don't get my new laptop until next Tuesday at the earliest. That's going to make for a long weekend! I'll happily let fly an update when I've got everything running smoothly, however. I actually look forward to wrestling with 802.11g, 3d and widescreen LCD issues. -- __________ CorvusE Linux User #370082

My exp with 9.2 is really good . ... though i didnt notice a very big difference for the desktop but surely for the laptops its amazing. ... it sorts out a lot of problems like pairing a bluetooth device ... it has a YaST module for bluetooth and IRDA .... much better wireless support. ... my wireless connection used to break before arbitrarily but not any longer. the suspend to disk works very welll .... means u cud just press the power button and it wud hibernate ... next when u start u are back to as u left it :) Happy computing

It would help me a lot if you guys could mentio make and model of laptops? I know there is specific help in the control panel for Thinkpads as well as Sony Vaios w/ potential purchses of new lappys it would be super if we coulg get specific make and model info from you guys as you get new or update old ones... There is enough space on my OOOOOLD thinkpad lappy, not so affectionally named the ton of bricks but not enough ram to install it... it only has 800Megs of hard drive if it's empty and 26 megs of ram!! ( 750cd ) the rather officious woman who took my order insisted"we have the top men in industry, corporate presidents who don't need more hard drive or ram than that . I'm sure it will be more than sufficient..." well, it wasn't. <G> But it runs Warp 4 so every now and then I drag is along... I guess she didn't know her company officials were only playing solitare and reading emails. -- j -- nemo me impune lacessit

I've got a ThinkPad R31.

A 750 is ancient. Years ago, I had a 760E, which could reach around 90 MB.
But it runs Warp 4 so every now and then I drag is along... I guess she didn't know her company officials were only playing solitare and reading emails.
That's one of the nice things about OS/2. It's a lot easier on hardware than other OS's, yet generally gives better performance.

Actually, that's one thing I haven't had a problem with.

And of course, hobbes.nmsu.edu is still a good source of OS/2 stuff. Also, yesterday I downloaded Mozilla 1.7.3 for OS/2.

wow! I just began installing it on one of the test machines ( a Micron w/ reletively standard bits, except posibley it's Cdrom , so far no howls of pain here. roughly one hr start to end, two users aand online updates finishing up as I type this... So the hardware micron has, and your vid card should be okay. ( I know you said something wasn't okay, but it didn't barf on anything here.) It took longer than I expected because I kept stopping off by the telly to see what to fuss is about... bah! New bright shiny tape one day after we got one made by an American Jihadi . However, I could have noded silently to much of UbL's remarks, until he swore before his God that he hadn't intended so much damage . That is a lie, terror has no other use than to terrorize. And the man is a Westernized man who made his living as a builder of big buildings. And big sites.. I thought it kinda interesting he suggested neither candidate can make us safe... The Jihadi yesterday was promising so much damage and death in just a short while that was would forget completely about 9-11 ... Maybe UbL is offereing himself as an alternative candidate... the guy isn't some mystic who lived in the desert all his life.. He has certainly become an escetic, but that doesn't take away what he knows. He also still has family here.. tho I am not 100% certain that he cares much about his family. ( It's not unlikely there are , um , unresolved differences among them, he was Either Child number 50 or son number 50... ( Sometimers strikes again ) which is enough to give any person pause when considering his or her place in the Almighty's Grand Plan for the Universe. I wonder if he is the answer to the 11 dimentions or whatever it finally got to when I stopped monitering the String theory wars <G> Solitery scientific contemplation of the Universe and Everything doesn't seem to have much meaning in the midst of their current wars <VBG> oops, I've wandered off topic... -- j -- nemo me impune lacessit

Novell/Suse 9.2 arrived today and I just loaded it on my Z500 Centrino notebook. So far the install is clean ... let's see if I can resist tinkering until I make a mess of it! Next test is to see if it will recognize my Buffalo wireless pcmcia nic. I really don't expect it to without ndiswrapper but just have to try and hope ... doc
