...and HOW would a NEWSGROUP be easier to find what you're looking for with all the extra trash/noise that would undoubtedly exist? How is that better than a mailing list?
A newsgroup isn't always better than a mailing list. But there are many people who would ask a question / get involved in a newsgroup, who wouldn't do so with a mailing list. Mailing lists are high volume, you have to subscribe to them & so, they are not viable to everyone. - You can't just pop into a mailing list every once & a while like you would with usenet. It would be great to have a mailing list as well as a newgroup, for some, one is better than the other.
I think a newsgroup would be good for name recognition of SuSE. It would sit right next to the Red Hat and Debian groups in linux.suse.*. If nothing else, SuSE may get more defections from RH and others. I switch to SuSE when I saw it at Borders and was having lots of trouble with Red Hat. But most people have never even heard of SuSE. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
