[SLE] SuSE 10.1 / hp-toolbox / network printer / cups configuration
Can somebody explain how to make hp-toolbox able to see my network printer, which is an HP 6980 with a built in 802.11 wireless interface, listening on direct printing port 9100? It works fine for printing, and appears in the cups printers list on localhost:631, but hp-toolbox doesn't see it. I think there's a tweak required to the cups configuration to allow hp-toolbox to see the printer, but I can't remember what it is. I got it to work in 10.0 I had to uninstall the one that came the 10.0 and down load the one from http://hplip.sourceforge.net/index.html and follow the Installation Instructions <http://hplip.sourceforge.net/install/index.html> to the letter and then it worked for 920c and the 1000 -- Hans Krueger hanskrueger@adelphia.net registered Linux user 289023 411024 -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

IIANM, it only works if using the hp:// interface. Try /usr/share/hplip/makeuri <IP of printer>, and use this uri as the interface for the printer. You may need -p 9100, -c to only get the cups uri. You can get some command help by just entering /usr/share/hplip/makeuri.
