It just dawned on me, that my old Caldera Linux 1.1 distribution had an option in the kernel menuconfig for fat32 support, along with vfat.
How come it isn't in SuSe 5.1 ?
This patch changes fundamental parts of the kernel. As long as Linus himself does not include this patch into the official kernel, we want to be on the safe side. I do not want to read postings "S.u.S.E.'s patched kernel ate my harddisk" ;-)
Anyone know where to get the kernel patch?
Unpack the archive /unsorted/patches/kernel-patches.tgz on CD#1. There you will find the VFAT32 Patch, the NTFS driver and some other useful things that did not yet make their way into the standard kernel.
