I'm trying to install Kmobiletools, but when I run configure, I get the error message "checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!" The README file mentions this error and says I have to provide the appropriate paths. Where would I find these X includes files? I'm running SuSE 9.2. tnx jk

You need to install X devel rpms to get the includes. The they will be under /usr/include Sunny

That would be xorg-x11-devel and it does the trick. Now, to find out why it's choking on libz. "checking for libz... configure: error: not found. Possibly configure picks up an outdated version installed by XFree86. Remove it from your system." It's not likely picking up from an outdated version, as this was a fresh 9.2 install. tnx

I can't help you here, as right now I have access only to my 9.1 box, and it still uses XFree86, not x.org. But try to run configure in more verbose mode (if any) to see which file exactly fails, and check if a symlink with that name can help. Try installing zlib-devel In general, you can always check the file config.log, it should tell you which file it's looking for when it fails

Well, that cleared that one. Next choke point is it's looking for QT, so try qt3-devel, now something about KDE headers... So, install kdegraphics3-devel. Finally completes. Incidentally, while configure was running, I saw a couple of references to Fortran. Curious. tnx

Now for more fun, make wants libjpeg-devel. Now do make install & checkinstall and hopefully the rpm works. Sure is fun compiling apps, when you're not sure what you're doing! ;-)

It appears to work!!! Now, if anyone needs an rpm for kmobiletools, let me know.
