I am working on setting up a Bridge+Firewall+DLS with Suse Linux. So far, it's been a long trip with re-configuring the kernel and recompiling it. Especially since I've never done that before. Up until now I've been using the kernel that came with the distribution. I need to know where in SuSE the current settings are kept since the HOWTO that I am reading: http://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/mini/Bridge+Firewall+DSL uses a setup from RedHat Linux. I have tried setting up the base network from Yast, but for some reason the option is greyed-out. I have also edited the /etc/rc.config file and ran SuSEconfig, but the kernel doesn't set-up the nic cards correctly and they get initialized differently for some reason. Below are the options that I need to set, but I don't know in which file SuSE places these settings: GATEWAY=192.168.2.129 # the address of the DSL router GATEWAYDEV=eth1 # the NIC that the router is connected to ETH0_ADDR=192.168.2.130 # the IP address for the NIC on our LAN ETH0_MASK=255.255.255.192 # the netmask of our LAN ETH0_BROAD=192.168.2.191 # the broadcast address of our LAN ETH1_ADDR=192.168.2.130 # the IP address for the NIC on the DSL side # can be different from # ETH0_ADDR if you want ETH1_MASK=$ETH0_MASK # the DSL side netmask, should be the same as eth0 ETH1_BROAD=$ETH1_BROAD # ditto for the broadcast address Any help would be appreciated!
