I just noticed that 7.1 doesn't start the rpc.ugidd daemon. In 6.4, the rpc service started portmap and ugidd, but things are different in 7.1. The nfs-server package contains the template for /etc/rc.config with the variable NFS_SERVER_UGID, but I can find no installed startup script that references it. A Google search turned up little that helped. Is there some other standard 7.1 script I may not have installed that starts rpc.ugidd? Thanks, Jim
Second post. I know lots of people are having fun with 8.0 now, but I can't update yet and I have this problem described below. Anyone have any suggestions? On Fri, 26 Apr 2002, Jim Cunning wrote:

I no longer have 7.1 around, but if no script starts it, can't you put it in boot.local or a similar place to start it yourself? Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ Got spam? Get spastic http://spastic.sourceforge.net
