[opensuse] Manually configuring an online-update source

Dear list, I have an autoyast script for OpenSUSE 10.1 where I have configured SUSERegister. Sometimes it works, but mostly it doesn't. When it doesn't, the autoyast install completes but my attempt to subsequently run a 'rug up -y' fails with 'no patches' (because there are no update sources configured, of course) If I then try to manually complete the SUSE Register, which is mis-named 'Online Update Configuration' in the yaST Control Center, then after a short delay 'contacting server ... this may take a while' I get an error 'No products to register' So I can't configure an update source that way. I have tried to configure a local mirror as an update source using these commands: sudo rug --quiet sa -t zypp \ http://nfs-uxsup.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/linux/suse/update/10.1 SUSE-Linux-10.1 sudo rug refresh sudo rug sub SUSE-Linux-10.1 sudo rug up -y But I get errors: Resolving Dependencies... ERROR: Dependency resolution failed: Resolvable id 28428 does not exist. In https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=198666 I have read, in response to a problem with SUSERegister: Comment #1 FromMichael Calmer 2006-08-14 09:46:55 MST [ ... snip ...]For SUSE Linux you can skip the registration completely and add a update source manualy. Can anyone tell me how this is done? With either the local mirror or one of the 'official' SUSE ones. I think this is the right way, you just happened to trigger a bug in ZMD. Does the "rug up" error persist? Can you wait for some time before doing the "rug up" ? Well it did, but then ...

I waited a long time and ran 'rug ca' again. It said 'Waiting for ZMD to wake up ...' and then the next time I ran 'rug up -y' it started updating packages. So it was some state in the zmd backend then? Is there a way to force this zmd restart when I run it in a post-init script from autoyast? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
