Dear all, On my new SuSE 7.0 system whenever a user tries to mount the cd or the floppy he gets a message saying only root can mount things though I have edited /etc/fstab to include the user option for both devices. What else do I have to do? A `chmod 4755 /bin/mount' should help. If you don't want SuSEconfig to reset the permissions, add /bin/mount root.root 4755 to /etc/permissions.local. Either change the permissions of the mount command or use su1.
for the above suggestion check, the setting of PERMISSION_SECURITY in rc.config. If ot is set to "secure" or "paranoid", mount will be not useable as user. You can edit /etc/permissions.local in the style of permissions.* to allow the use of mount.
