Without playing with Elven or other Dwarves :-) I have posted some days ago the same errors, see below. I hope it is not the name which is causing this - is there any non-Matt who sees the same errors ;-) ? I had been running out of time to look further for a solution, too many more serious issues like the nvidia crash when logging out from kde or Gnome... Hi I've started getting exactly the same errors in the last 48 hours - on both my laptop and my home computer! Both running 7.3/2.4.16. I've been fiddling around with some eye candy - splash screens, desktops, etc, but I can't think of any other common factor. Doesn't seem likely that's the culprit, though. David PS I don't know a solution either! On Monday 07 January 2002 2:43 pm, you wrote:

Me too! I too have just started to get these errors when running SuSEconfig! I noticed this happening after the last update of the new KDE files. KDEbase and such that was uploaded around the first of January? Have you other people done the update as well? Was that when you started getting the errors? That is the only thing I can think of that might have changed recently on my system, what about you? I started to see the same errors recently as well, but since I just installed 7.3 a few days ago (and been updating as well), I just started having more problems with my whole system locking up tight (only the reset button would get me out- Real Bad). IN the console I checked

I am thinking of replacing my large and heavy 17 inch monitor with a more compact TFT LCD one. Does anyone use one of these TFT monitors with SuSE 7.3? Are there any installation problems, and do they work satisfactorily? I use a resolution of 1024 x 768. Any information on which models work with SuSE, will be very gratefully received. I would rather hear of experiences from users than just finding out from a database which ones are supported. Many thanks Keith

I did this with SuSE 7.1 six months ago. Basically, it doesn't care
or know that the monitor is LCD. The video card is the biggie. It
works best if you can run at the native resolution of the display,
1280x1024 in my case. Anything else is going to be a little blurry.
I worried about it a lot before hand, but the actual installation was
straightforward. It took some tweaking to get fonts that looked good
at the new resolution.

I use a resolution of 1024 x 768.
I'm running a 15" 1024x768 monitor next to my 17" Monitors ( a pair running at 1280 by 1024 ) and there is not a lot of difference in viewing area. I prefer the LCD when viewing low resolution stuff, and will be changing the two 17" when the higher resolution prices come down a little more. No problems with Linux ( or Windows ) on any of the cards I use, and it works quite well with different resolutions - Iiyama AX3816U so if you only need 1024 by 768 then the 15" would do you fine. -- Lester Caine ----------------------------- L.S.Caine Electronic Services

Which version of Koffice did you update to, when the problem started,? Was it this one, the latest one on the SuSe ftp site: koffice-1.1.1-14.rpm 8,736 KB 2002.01.02 ? I don't remember now. It was the latest from the ftp site, though, as it was installed via YOU.

I believe so, but I'm not sure. It downloads it as KOffice.rpm, no version number.

I just installed 7.3 (fresh install) over the weekend. This was the first (and only) KOffice update I installed.

I could have reinstalled the one from the DVD, but for now I just totally uninstalled it. I had updated KDE generally to 2.2.2 from SuSE's KDE service and the error messages appeared when I updated KDE through YOU thereafter (in error). I reinstalled koffice-1.1-136 from the KDE service and all was OK again. David

I just tried the latest one: koffice-1.1.1-14.rpm 8,736 KB 2002.01.02 but no change to the error messages. There are new kde2.2.2 base and libs in SuSEs ftp, I did install them all as well. May be it is something which can be configured somewhere? Oops, I just the the explanation from Anders about this error. Thanks, so I can just ignore it, as long as I run just kde. Have Fun, Matt

I suffered this error message twice in the last weeks. I rebuild susewm package from the src.rpm downloaded from SuSE's ftp site, installed the built rpm and things were OK again. I just don't know what causes the error message.
