firewire on laptop via pcmcia
Hello, I wonder whether anyone could help me with my installation of a ieee1394 pcmcia card on a toshiba laptop. All necessary modules seem to be loaded all right (after trying a lot of combinations and compilations including kernel pcmcia - now its external), but testlibraw does not see the card, while cardmgr does: cardmgr version 3.2.3 (= pcmcia_cs version) libraw1394 version 0.9.0 dvgrab 1.01 Removing the pcmcia card, corresponding entries in /var/log/messages: Dec 16 08:40:42 grey kernel: removed ohci1394_cb module Dec 16 08:40:42 grey kernel: cs: cb_disable(bus 5) Dec 16 08:40:42 grey kernel: cs: cb_release(bus 5) Dec 16 08:40:42 grey kernel: cs: cb_free(bus 5) Dec 16 08:40:42 grey cardmgr[590]: executing: './ieee1394 stop ohci1394' Dec 16 08:40:42 grey cardmgr[590]: executing: 'modprobe -r ohci1394_cb' Dec 16 08:40:42 grey cardmgr[590]: executing: 'modprobe -r cb_enabler' Inserting the pcmcia card, corresponding entries in /var/log/messages: Dec 16 08:40:46 grey cardmgr[590]: socket 1: Cherri IEEE-1394 Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: cs: cb_alloc(bus 5): vendor 0x104c, device 0x8019 Dec 16 08:40:46 grey cardmgr[590]: executing: 'modprobe cb_enabler' Dec 16 08:40:46 grey cardmgr[590]: executing: 'modprobe ohci1394_cb' Dec 16 08:40:46 grey cardmgr[590]: + Warning: loading /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB-save-external/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ohci1394_cb.o will taint the kernel: no license Dec 16 08:40:46 grey cardmgr[590]: executing: './ieee1394 start ohci1394' Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: cs: cb_config(bus 5) Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: fn 0 bar 1: mem 0x6000d000-0x6000d7ff Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: fn 0 bar 3: mem 0x6000c000-0x6000c7ff Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: fn 0 bar 2: mem 0x60008000-0x6000bfff Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: irq 11 Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: cs: cb_enable(bus 5) Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: bridge mem map 0 (flags 0x1): 0x60008000-0x6000dfff Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: ohci_attach(device 05:00.0) Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: Trying to free nonexistent resource <6000d000-6000d0ff> Dec 16 08:40:46 grey kernel: raw1394: /dev/raw1394 device initialized Contents of /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia: PCMCIA=yes PCIC=i82365 PCIC_OPTS= CORE_OPTS= CARDMGR_OPTS= Output of lsmod: Module Size Used by Tainted: P raw1394 6416 0 (unused) ohci1394_cb 17824 1 ieee1394 27976 0 [raw1394 ohci1394_cb] cb_enabler 2688 2 [ohci1394_cb] ipv6 123456 -1 (autoclean) ds 6816 2 [cb_enabler] i82365 23600 2 pcmcia_core 43104 0 [cb_enabler ds i82365] isa-pnp 27848 0 (unused) joydev 5728 0 (unused) evdev 3936 0 (unused) input 3104 0 [joydev evdev] usb-uhci 21028 0 (unused) usbcore 55168 1 [usb-uhci] e100 69272 1 reiserfs 158816 1 Output of testlibraw program: successfully got handle current generation number: 0 0 card(s) found 0 cards were found, so the dvgrab program fails (whether or not the camera was connected or not): # dvgrab myfile raw1394 - couldn't set port: Invalid argument I'd appreciate very much any help on this.
