[opensuse] krusader crash
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I have Krusader 1.99.1.svn6082-8.1 from the download.opensuse.org/repositories/kde:3/Backports/openSUSE_11.0 repo. It is a simple 11.0 system with KDE 3.5.10. Krusader crashes sometimes while I move some files from a dir to another. I don't found any relevant bugreport, but maybe it is not the problem of Krusader rather some kio specific thing. What do you think? Is there debug "version" of the kde backports repo? TIA. I don't know if it's the same problem, but I've recently had to ban Krusader from this machine, after years of it being my favourite file manager. ATM I'm running openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.2.1. What happened was random files would suddenly decide they had grown to thousands of terabytes in size. The problem would show up in two ways: 1. My rsync backup script would fail because there was no more room on the destination device, and 2. My mdraid RAID1 array, mounted on /home, kept degrading. Neither problem has recurred since removing krusader. I have reinstalled and removed krusader several times, and the two problems I mention above only occurred while krusader was in use. Certainly not proof, but until I get the problem again, I'll keep clear of krusader. If I am not mistaken, you are using beta software and hence crashes are part of the deal. You can report them upstream, i.e. at krusader's bugtracker. If you want stable software, do not use beta releases. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You are absolutely right, I didn't want to attack, I'd like to ask, what to do. It is part of the KDE backport repo, this is why I asked before turn to upstream, maybe it is suse related somehow. If nothing turns out, then I'll fill an OpenSuse bugreport first, and the maintainer of the package can easily decide whether it is an upstream problem, or not. Thanks for the reply. I did not think you wanted to attack, if you know what you are doing and willing to take the risk, that's perfectly fine.

You can find the svn revision in the package name. If you file a bug upstream, they will tell you whether that revision is still relevant or not. In case you did not yet do so, you should install the needed -debuginfo packages to get a useful backtrace. http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:KDE might help Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It's scary, but have you noticed: http://software.opensuse.org/search?baseproject=openSUSE%3A11.0&p=1&q=krusader AND http://software.opensuse.org/search?baseproject=openSUSE%3A11.1&p=1&q=krusader That's a lot of binaries. Yes, I noticed, Now I did an upgrade to 11.1 with the stable KDE4 repo on a test system, so I try to test beta2. The bug hasn't appear yet, but it was a rare occasion in svn version too. The real strange thing for me is that KDE4 unstable and factory repo is behind KDE4 stable. Unstable and factory use the 1.99.1svn trunk at the moment and stable uses 1.99.2.beta2.
