Now that it seems relatively safe to go back in the water.......... I recently saw Descent3 for Linux in a store called Electronics Boutique for $9.99 (US) & snapped it up. I had no trouble at all installing it on 7.1, and installed their latest update no prob (ver. 1.4). It works great and is a hell of a lot of fun! I actually had this game for Winders as it came free with my SoundBlaster Live! card. I had tried it on Winders, and for some reason I can't remember, I never played it (other than to try it once). Anyway, just for grins I reinstalled the Winders version the other night. It works fine, but I must say the game works better on Linux! If anyone is interested, it can be had for $9.99 + S&H (US dollars) at: http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/scripts/texis.exe/ebprod http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/scripts/texis.exe/ebprod They have several other games for Linux real cheap right now too. Have fun! Yes I installed Unreal Tournament and I have a GeForce2-MX. I tweaked/configure X to optimize and it rocked. I also have played the game for quite some time in Winblows and frankly some of the windows graphics (like into scene) looks better. But I like the Linux in game graphics better. If you export the full screen anti-aliasing parameters theres was absolutely no drop in fps and the maps and player models looked very nice. The really nice thing is that the network play was far more consistant and allowed for better game play in Linux than Winblows when online. -----Original Message----- From: Cleary_Mike@emc.com [mailto:Cleary_Mike@emc.com] Sent: Tuesday, April 24, 2001 2325 To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] Just for fun!
