[opensuse] help with download server mirrors
I looked at https://mirrors.opensuse.org/list/all.html and found none that claim to have source for Leap 15. If I go to the opensuse site: download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/leap/15.0-Current/repo/oss/src/ and try to download files I receive many with a .mirrorlist extension. Examination of those files indicates that there are mirrors that do contain the source code. Is there some other list of mirrors that I should refer to? There are also links in this tree to: openSUSE_Leap_15.0/ 15.0-Current/ openSUSE-current/ I do not know what the difference in these are. I had assumed that Leap 15.0 was current, so is 15.0-Current more current and include updates? No, they're one and the same
Thanks, Don
Another thing is that AFAIK most mirrors do mirror packges, but not the source packages. Nonetheless you should be able to download them for own usage. -- Gertjan Lettink a.k.a. If there is no mirror, you will be served directly from download.o.o. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (17.8°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I was able to find a mirror server in Denmark that was listed in one of the files with the .mirrorlist extension. It is a good mirror, first of all for being an ftp server, and second for not sending me timeouts all the time. I was able to download the entire Leap 15 source, 11,844 files, last night with a single operation. The site name is ftp.rz.uni-wuerzburg.de for those interested. Würzburg is about 150km north of Stuttgart and some 600km south of the Danish border. Remarkably, they do mirror the Leap15 source, but it is not indicated on the mirrors.o.o page. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (17.8°C) member, openSUSE Heroes -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Does anybody know if there is a site for source packages after the distribution? I looked at download.opensuse.org/source/update/leap/42.3/oss/ and found it empty. I know there have been many upgrades to the 42.3 distribution. Are the upgraded sources available? What does "update" signify if not upgrades? Please advise. The source code certainly should be available, I don't know why those repositories have not been populated. Don Sorry for being a bit dumb about the .de designation. I haven't traveled in this century:-( I have a question about versions. When I go to: download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/windowmanager/openSUSE_Leap_42.3 /x86_64 I find fvwm2-2.6.7-54.1.x86_64.rpm. When I do a fvwm -V on my 42.3 system it yields a version fvwm 2.6.6, this not 10 seconds after a execution a zypper up.
I have been having problems with fvwm under Leap 15, in another thread, and was trying to see what the difference between 42.3 and 15 is. Hence my groping the distribution site for source code, and now version information. Please explain why fvwm2 is not upgraded automatically. I am confused, certainly not the first time:-) I find the following versions (that I think are inconsistent) of fvwm2 at different locations on the download server. 42.3: download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/windowmanagers/openSUSE_Leap_42.3/src/ fvwm2-2.6.7-54.1.src.rpm 15.0: download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/windowmanagers /openSUSE_Leap_15.0/src/ fvwm2-2.6.7-lp150.54.1.src.rpm 42.3: download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/oss/suse/src/ fvwm2-2.6.6-4.11.src.rpm 15.0: download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/leap/15.0/repo/oss/src/ fvwm2-2.6.7-lp150.1.22.src.rpm As you can see, it appears that under the X11:/windowmangers, the versions of fvwm2 is the same for both Leap 15 and 42.3. But in the distribution source directories there is a difference, which is why 2.6.6 appears on my 42.3 system. Is there an error in the X11:windowmangers listing, or is something else going on. I hope this will explain my previous post about not thinking I had received the apparent correct fvwm2 version on 42.3 after zypper up. Well, that depends on your zypper configuration. What repositories you have and what priorities. Show "zypper lr --details"

15.0: download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/windowmanagers /openSUSE_Leap_15.0/src/ fvwm2-2.6.7-lp150.54.1.src.rpm

42.3: download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/oss/suse/src/ fvwm2-2.6.6-4.11.src.rpm 15.0: download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/leap/15.0/repo/oss/src/ fvwm2-2.6.7-lp150.1.22.src.rpm
These are the official (source) repos for 42.3 and 15.0, and it is normal that 42.3 has an older version, because the policy for Leap is not to update package versions unless really necessary. They are not the source repos corresponding to "X11:/windowmanagers". -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)

I do not understand why a version for the 42.3 window manger source should not be the same as 42.3 distribution. And how would one know that they are "optional" repositories. The only official repository is : <http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/oss/> and <http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/non-oss/> plus the update repos: <http://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/42.3/oss/> <http://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/42.3/non-oss/> And the sources are these: <http://download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/oss/> <http://download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/leap/42.3/repo/non-oss/> plus updates, but the are not: <http://download.opensuse.org/source/update/leap/42.3/oss/> <http://download.opensuse.org/source/update/leap/42.3/non-oss/> The "X11:/windowmanagers" is an optional and not official repository. You are not new using openSUSE, you should know this already. However, you can see that: <http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/windowmanagers/openSUSE_Leap_42.3/x86_64/> has fvwm2-2.6.7-54.1.x86_64.rpm and its source package is here: <http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/windowmanagers/openSUSE_Leap_42.3/src/> and has fvwm2-2.6.7-54.1.src.rpm which you can see matches the version. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E.
