So, the most common concept/impression about Linux that it is "for geeks" is correct, according to your understanding. Correct?
good security need some sort of knowledge. That said there are much less problems with Linux than Windows. Read a little, the litterature on the sibject is hudge and don't need to be again and again copied here
Unless you first acquire some "admin knoweldge" you should not install a Linux distro - least of all openSUSE - but stick with whatever flavour of Microsoft Windows you are currently using. Is this correct, according to your words?
you shouldn't use a computer at all :-()
I've been asking - if you really bothered to understand what I have been writing - is, "What is being done to stop this possibility of shooting oneself in the foot"
you simply refuse to read the answer. It's not possible. However, if you keep using only the distro, you have little chance of having problems. All what is really needed is available for free in your distro (for us through YaST), you have no reason to ga elsewehre. with Windows, you are *obliged* to go to the net to search for you app, it's not given with the OS, and many people have problem with use of piracy
OK, fine, Linux is more secure than MS or Apple s/ware - but it is NOT as watertight as a fish's bum, right?
right So why not simply acknowdledge
that Linux is not as tight as a fish's bum - and then go about trying to ensure that it IS watertight.
if you feel able to do this, do.
I asked if AppArmor was the fledging beginning of such an aim. Are you in agreement or are you not?
yes. there are many others, but the only really usefull is educating. I think any of us suffers at the beginning of some data processing problems (not necessarily viruses or trojan) - let alone losing a HDD witout backup jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://news.opensuse.org/2009/04/13/people-of-opensuse-jean-daniel-dodin/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
