I want to be able to access files from home and be able to determine status of home system (i.e., processes). I was thinking of using vnc. IP: Static I'm only going to assume the answer to the third question is YES. But I'm not sure. I can play microsoft golf with others on my W2k partition (home is a dual-boot), if that helped. Hi
First we need more information.
What services do You want to offer from home to Your office? Is Your IP static or dynamic? (does it change or stay the same all the time?) Does Your ISP allow connection request to pass thru to Your home?
When You have these answers, rest is easy.
Jaska.

Let's all pretend I have a firewall on my home system. Now, I want to access my computer from my office. My home system is linux and I'm accessing it from linux (not using linux firewall program). My home system is connected to the net via cable modem with a hub/firewall box. Inside I'm running private IP addresses.
Firewall IP: 123.123.123.1 (of course that's not really the IP) My machine: 192.168.0.1
How do I setup the system to connect to my machine? I imagine that I have to use a port on the firewall that will forward information to my linux box. Correct??
E.g. 123.123.123.1:900 > 192.168.0.1
I'm only taking a wild guess here, so please tell me where I"m going wrong.
Thanks, Tom
