[opensuse] can't get to port 25
I can telnet localhost 25 can connect to postfix, however I cannot connect from any other computer on the network or even do telnet hostname 25 on the postfix machine itsself I do have port 25 open in the firewall. Postfix is running. (mailserver and service:postfix) $ telnet hostname 25 Trying 192.168.2.3... telnet: connect to address 192.168.2.3: Connection refused $ telnet localhost 25 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. 220 host.name ESMTP Postfix # nmap /usr/bin/nmap localhost Starting Nmap 4.60 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2008-12-27 00:03 EST Warning: Hostname localhost resolves to 3 IPs. Using 127.0.0.1. Interesting ports on localhost (127.0.0.1): Not shown: 1704 closed ports PORT STATE SERVICE 21/tcp open ftp 22/tcp open ssh 25/tcp open smtp Keep in mind this is all via internal network, so port forwarding shouldn't be an issue. Nor should it be isp blocking port 25. I'll deal with that once I get postfix set up if need be. -- Michael S. If using Yast, did you check the "Accept remote SMTP connections" box in the config? What does postconf -n show for inet_interfaces? -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.3 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

For postfix or under firewall?

Postfix
What does postconf -n show for inet_interfaces?
$ sudo /usr/sbin/postconf |grep inet inet_interfaces = localhost inet_protocols = all local_header_rewrite_clients = permit_inet_interfaces
It is only listening on localhost, i.e. 127.0.0.1. To listen to more, add the interface to inet_interfaces. I believe this is what Yast would change if you choose Accept remote SMTP connections checkbox. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.3 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
