Thanks Ace, Please reply to the list next time, okay? When you wrote "see" did you mean the RSS feed icon appeared in your browser's address bar? In any case, last time I'm mentioning this, I'm still waiting on the originator of this thread, Constant, to respond to my earlier question. regards, Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No, not in the address bar. I see it in http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/ page. On the page header, in the far right. -- The mysteries of the Universe are revealed when you break stuff. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Dear Carl, The replies were so fast that I did only see it after it had gone this far ;). The original URL is http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world/ There is a RSS logo in the address and clicking there it answers with the following URL http://builder.extensionfactory.com/ which is meant to give the potential user the possibility to enter an improved feeder address. It informs me: We could not find any RSS feed for this website (http://www.bbc.co.uk) And I have a RSS feed for the BBC. Will follow up suggestions of the list and hope to have the BBC again soon. -- Linux User 183145 using LXDE and KDE4 on a Pentium IV , powered by openSUSE 11.4 (i586) Kernel: 3.1.0-rc5-1-desktop LXDE WM & KDE Development Platform: 4.7.1 (4.7.1) 15:37pm up 4:46, 3 users, load average: 2.81, 4.63, 4.62 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Uh-oh! I do *not* like the website you are being redirected to. First, it says "beta" Second, it is offering to convert the RSS feed link at BBC to a "custom URL" purportedly so you can "share" it on your own website. I think they are harvesting traffic data to sell by substituting the link they "create" for you with the real RSS feed. I think every time you (or your "visitors") access that custom link they are getting visitor traffic statistics to sell, or worse... I think you can do better than this. Either configure Chrome to utilize RSS feeds directly by installing a plug-in, if one is available. Or change browsers. Or user MPlayer from the commandline, like so (example URL may or may not work from your IP, also, mind the wordwrap): mplayer mplayer -vc null -vo null http://2343.live.streamtheworld.com:80/KSFOAM_SC regards, Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Sorry! <blush!> I've got Internet radio streaming and podcasting on the brain today :-) You're looking to subscribe to syndicated content, not "tune in" to listen or watch live a/v streams, right? You need a plug-in in Chrome, if one is available, or a separate RSS/Atom feed reader client like "Liferea" <http://liferea.sourceforge.net/> "Liferea, a simple and free desktop news aggregator for Unix and Linux") I have Liferea installed and it appears to be from an openSUSE repository: carlh@linux:~> rpm -qa | grep liferea liferea-1.6.5-6.3.x86_64 There are, of course, other similar solutions. I pared back a while ago so I don't use such a plug-in or client myself, these days. hth & regards, Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
