[opensuse] software.opensuse.org search misery
Hello Progress hit this one too: software.opensuse.org/ It was quite useful once. Now it is useless. - doesn't find programs in repos (eg ike in security repo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/security/ openSUSE_Leap_42.3/x86_64/ike-2.2.1-3.1.x86_64.rpm) - The name of the package is not indicated - the result list's space is taken by big green rectangles - the result list order is arbitrary Due to the last two above it is very difficult to find a specific package, requires a lot of scrolling. Just give a try, eg vice (the C64 emulator) package. How do you locate it in the result list? Hi, you are right, but you could use: https://build.opensuse.org/search try vice it's very fast and will show a short list :-))))) (i got this tip from somebody here on the list some month before, when the search engine was mainly unresponsive) simoN Am 11.12.18 um 21:43 schrieb Istvan Gabor:

I fully agree. As you can't always put your term inside ""...

What I would give just to have a working 'webpin' back. Simple command-line search that indexed ALL repositories and could search on a simple 3-letter search term. Sad. -- David C. Yes... I wonder what it would need to have a private webpin running :-? -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)

Have you tried using 'osc search'? -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Did you read the bugzilla? The problem is upstream. Webpin needs a server that does the actual search, and that server has not been updated in years and does not search the current releases of the distro. <http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1083690> -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E.
