Anyone have some tips on debugging Firefox crashes. Seg faults at random times and actions (I think). Tried most things, need now to trace the crashes - where do I start? Manne -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No better answer yet so here're my suggestions. Worth at least what you paid for them: (1) take out all plugins/addons etc (2) always start it from a terminal so you can see any output (3) there's starting in safe mode and there's turning on logging. Sorry I forget how now. Look on the mozilla/firefox site (4) firebug is good if the problem is with particular pages HTH, Dave -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks, tried all that (except firebug) - running in debug from terminal just kicks out Seg Fault. Seems to happen more often when opening FF after a crash and a lot of pages gets loaded at once. Sounds like you may have picked up a bad web page. In /home/<login_name>/.mozilla/default/ you will find Cache. Either clean it out or simply delete it (it will get recreated when you restart FF). No. I get a crash quite consistently when viewing PDFs. I've upgraded to Adobe Flash 10, which may be significant. At the moment my workaround is not to read the PDF within FF but to start up acroread externally -- I can think of nothing more boring for the American people than to have to sit in their living rooms for a whole half hour looking at my face on their television screens. Same here. Not entirely repeatable, but if I have 3 or 4 tabs open and then try to open a pdf about 30% of the time firefox freezes, then bombs. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ok, let's put down some basics. I am using 11.0 and KDE4.1.x with the latest FF. I have no problems with reading PDFs online because FF defaults to using Okular for reading such files. However, even when I was using KDE3.x I had no problems with reading PDFs online (I think FF defaulted to using Acroread for this purpose). As far as I know, Adobe Flash has nothing to do with PDF files but all to do with viewing video files. When you click on a PDF online, FF brings up a menu giving you the choice of what you want to do with the PDF file. Which option have you selected, and which app. have you selected to view it if you want to view it online? If those are real crashes you might want to look at http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:mozilla for some hints how to get useful output. Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
