how to install on headless cdromless machine?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, all -- [Please forgive me if you've seen this already... I haven't seen it come around yet! I'm retyping it to ensure that there are no hidden magic chars that might be making it bomb.] I have SuSE 8.1 happily installed (after years of happy 6.1 use!) on my laptop. I am trying to figure out how to get it installed on my server. It's a fairly unique box, with no CD, no video, and no keyboard (well, a USB port, but I don't have a USB keyboard). It has a working LCD front panel (which I could configure again after loading SuSE) and a serial port which already catches console output. It's running LFS from hda2 and I have hda3 empty and ready and waiting and would love to load SuSE on it. How can I do this? Is there any hope? Once everything is installed, I would tweak lilo (yes, I know that SuSE has switched to grub, but I've seen a few docs about how to switch back and with no keyboard or monitor lilo's -R flag comes in very handy for testing!) to dump to the serial port, configure the front panel, and have a happy new system :-) TIA & HAND :-D - -- David T-G * There is too much animal courage in (play) davidtg@justpickone.org * society and not sufficient moral courage.
