      i had triple boot working easily:

/dev/hda1 xp
/dev/hda2 suse
/dev/hda3 swap
/dev/hda4 rhat

grub used from rhat on /dev/hda

# cat /boot/grub/menu.lst
default = 0
timeout = 30
title rh
root (hd0,3)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz ro root = /dev/hda4
initrd /boot/initrd
title xp
root (hd0,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1
title suse
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz ro root = /dev/hda4
initrd /boot/initrd

# grub-install /dev/hda

mk
...
