[SuSE Linux] ftpd login
Hi all, I just installed suse 5.3 on a thinkpad 560 no problem. I have proftpd running on the thinkpad. When I ftp to the thinkpad, I connect and get the ftp prompt. I give my user name and password and get the error 530 Login incorrect Login failed. The user is NOT in the /etc/ftpusers database. The user has a valid login, password and shell on the thinkpad. I can telnet to the thinkpad no problem. What am I forgetting? - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

There is tree type of ftp access policies: real, guest and anonymous. If you want to login to ftpd with real account (different from ftp or anonymous) you have to enable real or guest access policies. To do this edit /etc/ftpaccess. You may read man ftpaccess(5), before ;-) Milen - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
